No mo' Gitmo

Good.

It's time.

"Your families aren't safe." They weren't before Guantanamo Bay closed. Osama Bin Laden is still out there.

"You're going to supply the terrorists with fresh new faces with a vendetta against the U.S." Our foreign policy of simply supporting Israel with money and weapons, of fighting in the borders of Afghanistan/Pakistan, incurring civilian casualties when we launch military strikes in Iraq -- all occupational hazards of fighting wars, we create new recruits for terror camps. They didn't like us before. We've been doing all the things that made 'em hate us from the get go - both right and wrong - for a long time.

Closing Gitmo was the right thing to do. You can't continue to defend who you are and what makes you great (liberty, justice, and civil rights) while running a place like Guantanamo Bay.

I completely agree. Gitmo was a horrible place that should have never existed. Glad it's going away.

I have no problem with gitmo going bye bye, but it was absolute stupidity, IMO, to do it before you even know what you're going to do with the people there. Personally, I think they should have fixed the time problem with getting people to trial, prosecute them, and emptied the place out. Officially closing the camp before you even know what you're going to do with the prisoners is like locking all the doors on a hotel then telling everyone to leave.

Sorry if that's raining on your parade, but those are my feelings.

Maybe they do know, and don't want to announce it, because it's very popular.

I think closing Guantanamo Bay was a huge mistake. Bringing foreign terrorists onto domestic soil is a big mistake for a variety of reasons. Fortunately the way Obama closed Gitmo means that a future president could easily reopen it.
